Subject: compute FAST_CWD pointer error
To:
Dear Sir/Madam,
As I try to run john the ripper I get this error - compute FAST_CWD pointer.
I am not sure how to proceed, I am running on windows 64-bit
aren't being performed. Strangely enough, when I grabbed a fresh
machine to test Cygwin on, I am able to get near wire speeds. Very strange.

What is more important? testing cygwin's scp/sftp/rsync, or using 'ssh'
or runni
ystem.
Thanks for bants, this has been fun.

If you tested it in a VM, then you would have seen that Perl is in

Using this file:

Also, by install file sets, I also meant install media, don't be
pedantic. Go do some research/testing before you reply again.
Thanks for the "illumination",

Hi Steven,
OpenBSD does indeed come with perl, as its package managegment system,
"pkg_add" is written pretty much entirely in perl. Perl is a first class
citizens over at OpenBSD. I do believe it is also in the base system of
FreeBSD as well.

Hi folks,
First time poster here. I was hoping others could weigh in with their
experiences running an ssh/sftp server from Cygwin.

Has anyone ever successfully transferred 150Mbps or more over the
network using scp/sftp/rsync etc on Cygwin?

I reproduced it again. The error messages are as follows:

e a solution which involves increasing the memory available to
CygWin, that seems illogical, because the script is gradually increasing its
own
memory usage over time. Thus, such a solution would only delay the inevitable,

When I modify files with cygwin's vim, they become inaccessible. It seems the
permissions are getting changed when I save the file. Any idea why this is
happening? This does not happen from a bash shell, only when I directly
launch vim from a windows cmd.exe window. See below.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to send this. I tried sending to the
rxvt guys at sf, and got no response.
Anyway; in case whoever maintains the cygwin port is listening, here's
some diffs...

Recently I tried upgrading to the cygwin-1.5.9-1
package, and after that, BitTorrent (a python-based
program) started crashing consistently on certain
inputs, with the error
segmentation fault (core dumped)
I tried downgrading back to 1.5.7, and then the
problems disappeared. I tried 1.5.8 also,

I've given up on cygwin but I'm letting you know fwiw that the installer
seems incredibly broken.
