with the new 10.0 version : and now it keeps working ! So, Symantec
Corportate AV 10.0 can be a good workaround,
although having no AV is the best solution.

We use a lot of admin scripts on our windows boxes running Windows XP,
Windows 2000 and 2003 and use Cygwin for a long time.
We recently compiled the "shc" utility that encrypts a bash script into
a simple C program to hide some password
from non authorized users and to avoid "wild" code

I used the snapshot cygwin1.dll as of Apr 26th of 2006 and my problems
have disappeared on this box (cygwin1-20060426.dll.bz2). There is no
hung process any more.
I only replaced this dll and all is ok.
