I found a stainless model that was winch handle operated, and not too pricey,

It sure looks nice. I am tempted to use it on the bow where the anchor tends
to hit the boat.

Joe,
I tried it, or something similar, years ago. It used two sided tape that
left the edges sticking up off the deck. Be careful where you put it so
you don't slice a body part on the edge.

I used that in the chain trough between the roller and the locker to avoid
damage from the chain on the deck. Worked just fine.

None of those caps would work on my boat. The thread diameter is different, so
the entire unit would have to be replaced. I have never seen a direct

overboard. As mentioned earlier, threads on replacement caps are different
from the threads on the C&C boats. The plastic one has a lever that lifts

Joe, I've used it around anywhere rope chafe occurs.cockpit coaming leading lines over edges. Traveller lines, etc. I've cit it to size easilyHOWEVER, see the comment on the raised SHARP edges. It needs hard rolled around the edges to keep the corners from lifting.BUT, it does stop rope
Thx for all your responses.
I worried about a compatibility issue in the threading.
Yes, I unfortunately over-tightened the cap.
