Hello - first of all, if have one for sale, please contact me off list!
Secondly - I read a positive review of rolly tasker sails here a few months
back. I believe the poster was Canadian. Any idea of importation costs?
(Freight quoted at $65US)
I see a site online - ispinnakers out of Utah
We have a Quantum asym with ATN sock. Very nice shape and we are quite
pleased. Have used with and without sock. Can actually sail it deeper than we
thought. Was brand new when we bought the boat (just delivered). Is from the

Dave — I ordered a new 135% Offshore genoa from Rolly Tasker back on May 16th;
actually, you don’t order directly from Rolly Tasker in Thailand any more, you
go through a guy in Florida who works in Thailand for a while, and now does
their sales in the U.S. The company in Florida is called Nati
I had a Rolly Tasker 135 on my 35/3. (Fred has seen it.) I put a lot of
miles on it and was very happy. If you can find a "stock" size chute you
will save yourself significant dollars. I would not hesitate to buy from
them again.

I remember seeing it in passing… but you guys kept me locked up down below
doing navigation for most of the race… :^) Besides, the winds were so
light, as I recall we used the cruising chute most of the way from Annapolis to
Bermuda.

I've purchased two head sails from rolly tasker - both directly dealing
with the main factory in Thailand. I purchased a 155% in 2013 and it's a
great sail. We're up on Georgian bay now and it's windier there than it was
here in Toronto. I ordered a 115% from them two weeks ago - it's already at

Mine is accessible in cockpit locker, and I also have the wrenches secured via
electrical tape. Of course on the 33mkII the tiller range is a bit limited by
the helm seat .

Good thread. My question has always been what to do with the helm seat and
wheel? I've never actually tried removing the helm seat but it sure does
*appear* like it can be removed, just not sure how, or whether it's needed
on the 32.
I keep my emergency tiller in the port side cockpit locker on th
Greetings,
INDIGO has a set of heavy-duty snatch blocks for the jib sheets. The bodies are
solid black rummer and there is a trident stamp marking on the strap.
One of the block's shieves is seized; looks like it'll need new pins and
possibly a new sheive.
Any ideas who may have made this block,
Wilcox Crittenden? (sp?) Don't think they are still made. Does the pin
have a phillips head on one side? If so, remove and clean. Otherwise, PB
Blaster for a couple days, put a line through it, tension the line and try
to get the sheave to move. Use an old grippy line, not dyneema.

Richard,
Those are Merriman Blocks but unfortunately, they’ve been out of business since
the late 1980s. I have found that using a penetrating lubricant such as PB
Blaster, I’ve been able to free up seized sheaves on old blocks, and then added
a liberal dose of McLube to the sheave pin area on
Yup, they're Merrimen blocks! To get the frozen shieve apart, it required
surgery. Any ideas if replacement shieves, pins, rollers, etc. can be obtained
(even if they're not OEM)?

Lake Ontario also, and had never tried mine. So... I did. Could not easily
get it over the post, the corner of the bore in the tillerhead was slightly
dinged, and really should be chamfered. It does fit and while its range is
limited by the helm seat, it does clear the wheel.
Will make i
Have also had success freeing up those old style snatch blocks. I think giving
a good soaking in warm water to dissolve salt helped too. For replacements,
Garhauer would be my first choice especially if boat bucks are tight!!

Richard,
Try soaking it immersed in white vinegar for a few days.
After a day see if you can get the sheave to turn.
Once it breaks free it will clean up fairly quickly.
Same thing for the snap shackle end.
It’s slow but it does work.

Hey all -
Safari came with a full boat cover that we don’t have storage space for and
I’d like to offer it to anybody on the list. You’d have to come pick it up
or make arrangements to ship, but I won’t charge you anything for it. It’s
blue sunbrella material and it looks to be in pretty good cond
So far, you've gotten good advice. They are Merriman blocks. I've had
good luck taking snatch blocks apart, cleaning and lubing them. Do they
have Allen head screws?
Soak them in suggested solutions, dissaemble, clean and lube. You may need
to clean up the pin and hole with some ultra fine wet
I would consider a hook and loop strap to attach the wrench to the tiller.
Cable ties and tape require extra time and effort.
I actually have mine attached with electrical tape but it has a nice tab to
grab for quick unwrapping.

If you are unable to free up the pin on the merriman snatch blocks, there are
usually a few on eBay, just make sure of the size and style. Price ranges from
$30 to $150 for the larger ones. I've added 2 to my collection.

After I disassembly mine (7 original with the boat), I put the sheaves
and rollers in my ultrasonic reloading cleaner at 160 degrees F and ran
it for 30 minutes. All cleaned up good. Put them all back together
with a good amount of winch grease. I expect they will be good for
another 25 year
I have a peculiar problem, My ST4000+ display no longer displays my rudder
indicator, altho it still seems to be wired in ok.
Also, my heading was locked in at 243 degrees. This makes my little boat on
the chart plotter point to 243 degrees, and I cannot use the autopilot. When I
try that, it
If you haven't already, try cleaning the contacts on the control head. My
old ST4000 started acting up and this fixed it.
