On Calypso with her 1970 Barient 36 primaries and the slippery hi-tech sheets we need 5 to 6 wraps to reduce slippage. With older well-worn sheets (used for deliveries and cruising) we can get back down to 3 to 4 wraps. To avoid unpleasant surprises when tacking with 5 to 6 wraps on the winch

Stus-List Running Back Stays

Hi All, Looking at a 37/40XL and I know they have running back stays, anyone who has them, are they a pain in the neck, or do you not use them all the time. I am not planning on doing much racing, mostly cruising. I've heard of people on other types of boats just removing them all together.
