Just replaced the PYI dripless "stuffing box" on Cat's Paw, a 35 C&C Mk II.
With lots of help from the list last fall, got the old one out and just
replaced it with a new one last weekend. The re-installation went very smoothly
and I thought all was well. But when I fired up the Perkins diesel
You have the first step: disconnect the cable at the lever and see if the tx
lever moves.

I'm sure there are differences between our boats and available space, but on my
LF38 the back end of the linear drive is fastened to the underside of the
cockpit floor using carriage bolts--it is very sturdy and works great!

I think the PO built a mount for mine and glassed it in. Obvious
differences because mine is a 37+ but it might give some ideas.

Good luck to Joel and crew member Jake. We passed them heading south while
we were heading north about even with the choptank river. Radio problems
made hailing difficult. Show 'em what a C&C can do boys!

Yes I saw that post. I cannot get a hold of the knot on the sheet on the bottom
of the drum to attach the new sheet on to. That is why I was wondering if I
could just “dremmel”/ remove the old knot and possibily push the new sheet up
the hole at the bottom of the drum and feed it through like th
Apparently I pocket emailed the list from my phone. Never done that before.

That was me...sorry about that. I pay Juno extra so I can turn off text ads in
my email but, somehow it got turned back on.
I've turned it back off and tested to my work email. It seems to be back to
normal...
As far as the boat shoes, I though it was sailing related...
I won't share that ty
Thanks! We did the AYC overnight. Down near Solomon's and back. Managed
to take the gun after a wild ride.

I went to my favourite chandlery today, they were helding some small "Sail
Expo" and there were several representatives ( RayMarine, Harken, Lewmar ) and
I asked him about that ( I have 2 EVO CST30 to install ). He took the time to
dismount one and showed me, the largest gear should be the close
Danny, your post about the shoes WAS sailing related; (I went to the site and
bought me a pair, for the boat!) Thanks for the notice!

This is more of a question for Moyer Marine but there are still some C&Cs
with A-4s.
Today I finally got around to replacing the Oberdorfer raw water impeller.
It's done a yeoman's job for the past 8 years. The replacement impeller
from Moyer came with a o-ring for the backplate. That fits fine. Ho

Not at all! This was our tune-up race.

I forgot to report back on this one. It turns out the the new impeller came
with 2 O rings and I had presumed they were the same. In fact, one was larger
than the other and when I tried the other O ring, it stayed in the groove just
fine. At least that is one job completed. Thanks- Dave

Did that - clear result. The lever at the pedestal is still jammed - cable
won't move. But the transmission is easy to shift even by hand, so it's fine.
That seems a good (i.e. easier and cheaper-to-fix) result. Opened the
pedestal, removed the compass, and the shifting mechanism looks fine
Quite a bit a discussion a while back re replacement of impeller in Yanmar
engines. Not sure if this was included, but thought I would include. This is
a video of replacement of impeller in Yanmar 2gm.

Squirting some teflon based grease (aerosol) might help, at least
temporarily. Especially if the sticking point is close to one of the ends.
But this would be, at best, a temporary fix. If the cable is stuck, I would
plan to replace it very, very soon. At least you can launch, without
worries.
I stumbled on this picture at our Club's web site (NSC in Ottawa, ON). A
nice fleet of C&C 27s rafted up (this is only a small portion of that fleet
- there are 35 of them over all (and 62 of all C&Cs)). I hope the link works
for you.

The hull sure have a whitefish boat shape when viewed from that angle. Very
pretty.
