I love your question and look forward to responses. We, on our 33-1 are looking

I routed the 2-inch exhaust hose to exit on the forward outboard section of the
cockpit coaming. This required that I use a shield to prevent green water from
splashing into the hose. I mounted the fan around the corner from the vent
location. I had to use a little more hose than was normally
You might be surprised about winter solar performance. I'm in BC, and my
brother's place on the gulf islands just got a 4kW solar system installed,
with 900W of panels. The standby consumption of the inverter is about 10W
(not bad considering the 4kW output). But what I was most surprised was

This info is great. We measured the head compartment and the airhead unit would
fit. Just. Our biggest concerns are where to locate the vent and how to deal
with the 24/7 need for electricity. How did you guys deal with these issues?

We have had a composting head (Air Head) for several years now and love it. It
sits a little higher than a standard toilet but we got used to it. We live
aboard and go south every winter and we have to empty the solids container
every 3 weeks (2 people). As I recall, composting requires a tem

I used an airhead on my Vega many years ago. Definitely not cheap and it was
huge, a bit unsightly as it was placed in a tight space, but no odor, I picked
up a ton of storage when the tank was removed. The newer models are just as
expensive but far more compact now that they have discovered the

I love your question and look forward to responses. We, on our 33-1 are looking
at the same issue. In our case we have had no real holding tank (a 6 gallon job
which was never used) but have used an electro-scan Type 1 Marine Sanitation
Device. As Puget Sound in now a no discharge zone we
Has anyone installed a composting head in a 33 or similar?
Have been contemplating replacement of my stench-impregnated holding tank and
hoses and it was suggested I look at a composting head instead.
Very tempting for many reasons, plus a huge gain in interior space below the

I put in a composting head last year. Really like it. I will
admit it adds a bit of an extra challenge when having guests
because you need to explain the process a little --- but not
really that much different that a manual toilet that requires a
