We have had a composting head (Air Head) for several years now and love it.  It 
sits a little higher than a standard toilet but we got used to it.  We live 
aboard and go south every winter and we have to empty the solids container 
every 3 weeks (2 people).  As I recall, composting requires a temp of at least 
55 degrees F which is not a problem for us but could be for some people who 
keep their boats in cold weather.  I have more info on my blog...
