Hi Rocky, We replaced ours with 1/2" bronze plexiglass (as opposed to Lexan) and got it cut by a local plastic distributor. Kindest Regards, Bruce On Sun, Dec 6, 2020, 10:36 AM rockland bazemore wrote: > Brian, what thickness acrylic did you get for the sliding hatch? > > > -- > Rockland Baze

Pretty sure I used 3/8". I'm heading to my boat now and will double check. I'll send you some pics too. On Sun, Dec 6, 2020, 10:37 AM rockland bazemore wrote: > Brian, what thickness acrylic did you get for the sliding hatch? > > > -- > Rockland Bazemore > S/V Blue Pearl > C&C 37/40+ > Port Wash

Just keep in mind acrylic is pretty inexpensive to buy and easy to find in all shades, shapes and sizes. I like a dark bronze to keep the heat out. I use regular wood shop tools to shape it like a table saw with a sharp carbide blade, a router table and pattern bit to make exact copies of ports and

I replaced my companion way sliding hatch earlier this year. I used acrylic and its been great so far. Below is a link to where I got it. They were very good to work with. I simply made a template on large brown paper and they cut it for me. They even sent me the leftover scraps and I used them to

Hi David Most likely caused by heat of the solar panels. Replaced our original hatch when it broke (don’t ask how J) with new from Laird Plastics in Warwick RI. 401-732-0415 Took the old to them, they fabricated new with exact duplication of holes for re install teak pieces while we had lunch

David, My slider is warped too and it has nothing to do with a solar panel on top. Mine sits under a dodger all summer. I believe the interior temperature of the boat when unattended is the cause but who knows. It’s an easy fix and I really like Chuck’s solution. I plan on using that Chuck. Thanks!

I guess I presumed it was turning those photons into electricity rather than heat. Hard to imagine it generates more heat than the smoke plexiglass, but I never checked. It would make sense since it tended to unwarp when slid out of the sun. If I put something underneath it would have to be r

David, My guess is the heat generated from the solar panel warped the plexiglass. Those flexible panels can produce a lot of heat. Some people place a sheet of corrugated plastic under them to help with airflow. On Sat, Dec 5, 2020, 2:06 PM David Knecht wrote: > The smoked plexiglass sliding h

Hi Dave, I recently replaced the wooden strip (maybe teak) "stop" that runs along the front edge of that sliding window. It stops the slider from coming out when you pull it. It's 1/2" high by 3/4" wide by 22?" long. And there are five or six flathead SS screws that hold it to the plexiglas

Don’t have clue about the cause. Perhaps substituting a different material (like Lexan) will help solve the problem going forward. From: David Knecht Sent: Saturday, December 05, 2020 2:07 PM To: CnC CnC discussion list Subject: Stus-List warped companionway sliding hatch The smoked pl
