Try cleaning all the connections and make sure there is good contact. My
Raymarine autopilot (st4000+) was not working well and it could not
calculate a deviation or follow a magnetic heading. I disconnected cleaned
and reconnected the wires from the fluxgate compass at the control module
and bingo
