There are YouTube videos on the splice technigues and there are tables to

I won't argue replacing rod with dyneema. I'm don't have the experience o

Great to work with. Very reasonable pricing.

Thanks to the list, I am learning more than I probably need to know about high
tech lines!
Anyhow, it seems these lines if properly sized and spliced, etc. can last a
long time and then when replaced, can be done with a competent, relatively easy
splice in such single braid line.
OTOH, a wire c

My terminology may be incorrect but what I call check stays are mounted at two
different heights on my mast and are separate from the rod backstay, which is
adjustable via a hydraulic cylinder. This being the case, I suppose some might
call them 'running backstays' but I already ha
Hi Rod.
We got a couple made through a lady on Etsy. Her site is Gaily874. She did a
nice job and quality shirts.
She should have the artwork there from ours we ordered in July of 2020.

Chuck,
There are two things unknown to me that make me hesitate
when considering UHMWPE for standing rigging:
1. How long can we expect it to last on an "ordinary" sailboat in
"ordinary" use if appropriately sized and properly installed?
2. Is there any way to inspect the lines fo

We use them to 'help' support the mast--my trimmers know that these need to be
attended to during tacks.
OTOH, I am not sure they provide much stiffening since they pull mostly aft. My
rig has what I believe to be a 'bendy' mast and used to have a baby stay (since
removed) so I use them.

Full disclosure, I work for a rope company. But a few things so say regards to
Dyneema. First of all Dyneema is a brand name that comes in a wide range of
“models”. The actual material is UHMWPE or Ultra High Molecular Weight

My wire runners and checkstays are still in good shape after 32 years, but I am
changing over to dyneema to reduce weight aloft and reduce chafe on the
mainsail. I'm also making lazy jacks from smaller 1/8" dyneema.
Runners and checkstays can be rigged for singlehanding. Ours are setup with a
Mike,
This may not work on your Frers, but we have the checks run to cabintop
winches and in a tack the pit person is the first across to the pit area to
release the check in the tack and loosely pulling on the new check after the
boom has crossed. Fine tune is done from the rail as the boat
