I have had the same sliding hatch leaks. Those ‘tracks’ indeed hold water in that cavity outboard. If they are gone, the water can overflow that much easier. I actually added height to the sliding tracks with a strip of wood. Also my boat was floating bow down so that cavity forward of the hatc
