The race boat I crew on had this happen. IIRC they went to Annapolis Spars
to get a replacement.
I wouldn't hesitate to contact a welder to see if they can repair it.

After a race on Sunday, my crew discovered a crack in the boom. It extends
across the boom for about an inch on each side of the boom, and it's
located just aft of the vang attachment. The attachment is made out of
aluminum, and it looks like the welds are also cracked. Has anyone on the

You didn't say where you're located. I, too, had a leak, and the new
dipstick cured it. I got a new dipstick for my 3GMF from Cook Engines in
Portland, OR. (503) 289-8466, or check with any Yanmar distributor.

I looked at the CS-325. Seems like a lot of horse power for such small
tasks. Then again I'm cheap. I've never bought a new car, and my current
one is a 1998. My boat is a 1989. I'm running $100 ebay laptops that are
probably at least 10 years old throughout the house and boat. I'm using a

Why complicate things? Get a nice laptop and find a 12V cigarette lighter
style adapter for it.
A TV will offer poor resolution and image quality in general.

Cheap and powerful. Multi boot but native linux. $35 and the run
OpenCPN. You can find all manner of 12v HDMI screens that it will drive.
Or just go get a laptop with 12v charger.
I still need to look at the compustick.

Howard,
You may want to review why there is pressure in the crank case pushing oil out.
It may not be an issue, but if it has changed, it could be that you have
piston ring issues allowing exhaust gas blow-by.

Hello All,
Now that the boat (35-3) is on the hard, I was able to clean the engine
and try to locate the source of my oil leak(s). It appears that the
culprit is the dipstick! The rubber seal no longer is able to stay in
place, rises up and allows oil out of the crankcase when under power.

I'd like to have a windows machine on board to run OpenCPN, surf the web
etc.
I'm thinking of using a 12 volt TV that I can mount and an Intel
ComputeStick CS-325. Add a 12 volt to USB converter, BT keyboard/mouse and
external hard drive.
Thoughts/recommendations?

My boat is a CS 30. Named Prosecco.

I would not pay for top dollar for a case for a $100 tablet. A good big Ziploc
bag might work. Or get yourself a tablet bag sold in many

Hi Josh,
Your setup looks nice - please keep posting about your progress.
I am starting a similar Open Plotter winter project with slightly different
scope.
I want to repeat my E80/ST60 data to a tablet.
In addition, hooking up extra sensors and making it all available through
the Internet seems

My boat has these SS toe rail cleats. We recently had a storm with wind
