Stus-List Cruising Mexico Caib side - Belize - Rio Dulce

Guys, new subject here. I want to doing some sailing down coast of Mexico (Carib side) to Belize and then to Rio Dulce. Has anyone done this trip and if so any advise for someone first time? What about charts of area - best source? Any good cruising guides? Appreciate your help. Stephen
