All: I'm also doing my windows (all four) on my 1980 C&C34.
Count me in, I'm going to be doing mine at the middle to end of next month.

My drain system is set up just like Ricks you can stop by and check
it out some weekend if it ever gets a little warmer. I still must take the
cover off.

My 1976 38 has the original Atomic 4 with a 2:1 reduction gear swinging a
16x10 two blade fixed prop. I believe that all of the 38's with A-4's had a
2:1 reduction gear. I can cruise at a little over 6 knots and it will do
6.6knots at full throttle with a clean bottom.

Jim;
My guess is that your prop is under pitched.
My 38 will cruise at hull speed (about 7.3 knots) in flat water at 2500 RPM.
I have a 36HP Universal M35B diesel with 1.76 reduction gear and a 16x10 1/2
two blade prop. Max RPM on my engine is 3000 RPM, and recommended cruising
is at 80% of max,

My 1976 model 38 (HIN 047) has 4 cockpit scuppers. Two are in the forward
corners of the cockpit near the bridge deck, the other two are at the
outboard corners of the T-shaped cockpit at the aft end of the cockpit
lockers. The drain hoses from the forward scuppers run aft under the cock
It does not, Its hull #602, 1980, and it had (and has) glued in cast
acrylic, no frames.

Has anyone added cockpit drains through the transom or added new
through-hulls.
As you all know cockpit has only two drain holes. They were originally
1-1/4" on my '76 38mk2.
Back in '04 I have enlarged them to 1-1/2" to help draining. I would like
to use one of them for the watermaker inlet
Yea Mine is a 30 MK1 1981 and it has no frames. I kinda wish it did. I
wish they were thicker and more offshore type.
