It was an intentional nod to your passion for Star Trek, your C&C, and your
contributions to the list.
Happy Holidays to you and the rest of the C&C list participants.

Snowing in Harrisburg, PA right now! Will be in Baltimore Christmas Day and the
Eastern Shore Christmas night for some waterfowling. Hopefully I can break out
my DN later in the year. Always like to sail throughout the winter, somehow.

Anyone in the Annapolis area interested in sailing tomorrow? My mechanic
hasn't gotten around to winterizing the boat yet. My primary sails are at
the sailmaker, but there is a spare main and #4 jib waiting to be used.
I usually ski on Christmas Day, but that's not an option this year!

Your story caused a flashback to age 15 when I read all the "Stainless Steel
Rat" sci-fi novels by Harry Harrison. (Hey! It's a really slow Christmas Eve
morning.) The hero was a thief who had been caught and recruited as a spy -
sort of a 23rd century version of "It Takes a Thief".

For me, the license is a matter of pride ( like being able to do celestial
navigation) and a source of additional retirement income. I currently crew
on a tour boat and do the occasional delivery for a bit of income. The tour
boat is 81 GRT, and I'll be sailing south for the winter; both factors ar
