I looked into getting a Captain's License last year. There is a substantial fee for the initial test and license and annual renewal fees, so if you don't line up a job that requires it and offsets the cost, it's not worth getting. That was based on costs as of 2011. Chuck Resolute 1990 C&C

I second the glass fiber addition. As part of our company's R&D we tested epoxy several fillers for resistance to cracking during thermal shock. We ran samples with ground glass fiber, cabosil, and glass micro spheres. The thermal shock profile was -55C (60 minutes), room temp (5 minutes),

Joel, If you can, put some glass fiber on the edges.  Epoxy has little strength.  The epoxy will split along the edges at the laminations and allow moisture to enter.  Put some tape on the top, epoxy on the glass then carefully sand the excess. Dennis C. >
