BUT...anything you put in the blue bins that isn't supposed to go in
there, they will either take out & leave at your house or they would end
up throwing away at the sorting place. This kind of defeats the whole
purpose.
As for you paying for it & not using it. Oh well...suck it up princess.

A couple minor points, that I'm sure you've tried already.
If the netbook and the TV are already turned on, and connected, you
should go into the Monitors app in Ubuntu (under Preferences, I think),
and tell it to redetect monitors. If everything is good, then you
should see the TV listed (or
I likely have a spare monitor.
I still use VGA but I'm tired of toteing CRT's around and I can find 15" flat
screens for $15 bux in the pawn shops.
I have some extra desk top machines with lots of HDD too.
Its just big heavy obsolete junk. Any takers?

I have tried (unsuccessfully) to get my eeePC to talk to my TV using a VGA to
video cable like this
http://computerrack.ca/wecs.php?store=629043795&action=display&target=2509 .
I'm not sure but I think the purpose of those cables may be to display TV
signals on VGA monitors rather than the reve
I will see how things work out with all of this. Right now I am guessing
that the Western Digital machine will be the best for this sort of thing but
I will know more tomorrow.
As for a netbook, I was just going to retire mine (it is three years old)
and thought this might be a good idea for it.
I have the same issue - I don't have a TV service that is works. Ny TV is in
te basement and rabbit ears don't work well enough to bother with and I have no
cable and no satelite.
I'd like to be able to get some programming although there is precious little
worth looking at. BNN would be okay
