I choose to not use them. It is easy to run a server and many of our
members know how to do this. We can set up our own "cloud". Any emails
sent to GOOGLE are their property and they will archive them forever.
So why participate?

Sorry...I may have duplicated what Gustin sent. For some reason his
message go to my spam folder. Must be all those things he sent me in
the past about enhancing body parts. LOL! Kidding Gustin!
But I believe in the web interface there is the option to permanently
delete messages. Maybe that
Connect to gmail with thunderbird over IMAP. Select all, hit the delete
key. Go get a coffee (or maybe get lunch then do some shopping, this is
going to take a while).
Also understand that this is gmail, so nothing is actually deleted. All
you are doing is removing your access to those messages
Can you even delete one (1)?
This is a serious question because I have had to do this but it was more
than 10 years ago and the file system can handle more files than the
delete utility can handle.
So if you can delete _any_ then write a bash (or any shell) script and
chew through the mess.
