I was able to get farther by using another trick which was told told to me
on the forum (bug forum at Sourceforge). II am still stuck with the "In
function `pingServer'" errors...
If you would like access to a RH5.1 box, that can certainly be arranged.

I'm no big RH expert and have no access to a 5.1 one box (especially one
with with a number of upgrades!) nor to a sendmail milter environment. That
said these lines :

thanks for the effortI have a RH5.1 box (with a number of upgrades).
The code compiled smoothly to the point of compiling the milter. I still
end up with the same problem as I had before. Not sure if this is something
"special" about my box, or if this is an issue. Here is what I am
