Here are the options to attach 3340 DASD emulation to an IBM System/3
1) direct connect to the internal channel of the S/3. Some disk OEM's did
this.
Requires a FPGA with at one side MST-1 interface logic and at the other side
IDE or SCSI interface.

I am currently restoring an IBM 9370.
The IPL drive needs to be re-initted. (The diag track fails.)
How to do this I need the IBM 9335-A01 SERVICE GUIDE (probably SY33-0113,

On the surface 3V & 1.2V is printed. This is a MST-4 card extender.
MST-1 & MST-2 are different. I was also interested, but the seller was

A few corrections:
The BASIC on the S/3 model 6 was a "boot to BASIC" system. You could IPL
BASIC from R1
or business SCP from F1.
This BASIC system had virtual memory implemented. Real storage was 8 or
16k but in the
BASIC environment approximately 54KB was available during execution.
