Anyone on here want a whole System/34?
Not mine, but I have contact details. The scrapper wants $800 for it local
pick up.
Let me know today, please.
Thanks.

Not sure if that's it or not. I found the guy through eBay, not CraigsList.

At some point, doesn't the rarity of it outweigh the rough condition? Or are
34's just not that rare? (or collectable?)
Anyone on here have any old RS/6000 parts? I have an old C10 I'm trying to

Any RS/6000 hobbyists out there?
I got my old 7009-C20 pretty tricked out and hardware carefully selected to be
compatible with AIX 4.1.3, the version I'm trying to get running on it.
Unfortunately, I can't get the dang thing to boot my 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 CD's.
It'll boot my 4.1.5 disc, however.
re any hardware that only works with 4.1.3?).

I want to say the difference is in HVD vs LVD SCSI ... unless you’ve swapped
out the guts yourself, I’d not mix and match...
Then again it’s been forever since I monkeyed with those things and I could be

As for opening them, I’ve cracked them open before. It’s possible, but they

80-pin is SCA. Definitely no SCA disks in there.
The blue ones should be 68-pin, and the beige ones 50-pin.
Like I said though, double-check me :)
Good luck, and have fun!

Place your wagers...
How many more years do you think it'll take before decent, practical-sized

I seem to recall having to install some vram chips on my P/390 to get 1024x768

I’m glad you got it working! That is awesome! Did you get networking

Have fun!

I gotta ask, what's the deal with the dangling card? That cracked me up!

Hi there!
I don't usually see much discussion on old IBM boxes, but I was looking for
a reasonably-powerful RS/6000 that can run AIX 4.1 and maybe 3.2.5, can
accommodate some decent disks, and isn't 200lbs. The 7012-390 looks perfect,
but I found this one on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/
I use a DEC DECConnect system on mine... I have a DB25 to MMJ on the RS/6000
side, and a DB9 to MMJ on the other. Plus you can swap out the MMJ adapters on
either end of the cable to talk to whatever you need. I highly recommend them
because they do the right thing 99.9% of the time.
