Do you have any idea how far back one might need to go to get a kernel
that didn't depend on SCSI Inquiry?
I wonder if a retro computer with a really old kernel and a SCS

Most recent Linux SCSI drivers seem to use this command.

Apologies if this is easily found info but is there a good guide on getting
into the tadpole systems? I recall my last time felt futile and I read some
warnings from folks smarter than me suggesting its easy to break but not
properly disassemble.

connected through an ACB4000. It's been a while but I believe I had to run
an old kernel which I compiled myself with support for ACB4000. Might have
been that a patch was applied.
All I found in my archives is a

I have a sun 3 system with acb4000 and suspect the protocol
was not fully sorted in that time frame. They can be fussy
about what they will talk to, ime.
