Diana,
We already got a new Art Robbins Phoenix crystallization robot recently and
very friendly as time consuming per plate is concerned. Theoretically your
strategy of aspirating one sample enough and dispensing into several 96 well

Dear Colleague,
At the Grenoble Outstation of the EMBL we have been developing a
humidity control device (HC1) used to improve the diffraction quality of
crystals. This device can be easily placed on a home source setup or a
synchrotron beamline. It has been tested with numerous crystals and t

Dear Diana,
I have adopted this method, and for the reasons your users suggest, here at
Manchester and do not observe any clogging of the nano probe due to
evaporation. The computer interface does complain that there is no protein
solution aspirated after the initial run but this is not a 'fat

Hi:
If anyone needs EDEN (Abraham and Hanna Szöke's density modification
program), the original edencrystallography.org site is gone. As a
quick remedy, I've created (with their permission) a google-code page
here:
http://code.google.com/p/edencrystallography/
The code is GPL-ed, fwiw.
Dear all,
Has anyone succeeded to connect an old StereoGraphics emitter (eg
revision M) with an RS232 outlet to a more modern 3-pin DIN graphics
board such as the Nvidia FX series? If so, could you please send me
the wiring diagram for the cable ?
Thanks in advance, Tassos

Hi Tassos,
It'll take more than a cable: the signal voltage changes from 12V to 5V
(or vice versa, I forget). I've never seen any info on building a
step-down transformer or aomplifier to address the issue, but for ~$200
USD, it's probably easier just to buy a new emitter.
Cheers,

1. I tried to install Bill Scott's precompiled ccp4 on an intel mac
running OS X 10.5. When attempting launch ccp4i, I receive this
error message:
/sw/share/xtal/ccp4-6.0.2/ccp4i/bin/ccp4i: line 4 /bltwish: no such

Typing "which bltwish" returns /sw/bin/bltwis
Patrick,
I've not used fink to install ccp4 so can't comment on that, but if you
want a quickie working suite:
I downloaded the pre-compiled binaries from the CCP4 ftp site and they
work fine.
ftp://ftp.ccp4.ac.uk/ccp4/6.0.2/binaries/
Use the Tcl/tk and Blt distributions on the CCP4 websit
Oh, you tried the binaries..sorry..
Hmmm..I don't recall having the same problem..I'll have a look at what
I've got here. You could always compile it from source code..

You need to run

if you use bash or zsh

if you use tcsh.
this will automatically set up the environment variables and then it

Yes, that is a general "problem" with sudo, with the latest version
