One additional point of information, while I was inexplicably logged in as
System, I tried sending a trivial groovy script to the slaves I thought were
problematic. They gave the same SSH connection problem stack trace.

I do think that something has recently destabilized in the Hudson install.
I have no particular idea what it is other than the problems that the
Hudson team are working on. Why that would so recently cause a problem, I
don't know.
