I do think that something has recently destabilized in the Hudson install. I have no particular idea what it is other than the problems that the Hudson team are working on. Why that would so recently cause a problem, I don't know.
We did have a recent bug in the Mahout build that looked like a Hudson problem, but wasn't. Since then, however, I think that the instability in our build has been more on the hudson side. I am happy to provide whatever information I have (which is limited) and would even volunteer to help augment the hudson admin team with extra hands if you like. Let me know what would help most.
