This is a bug in ghostscript. I can repeat it with version 9.00.
Since the current one is 9.05, someone should build/install gs and test it

as ubuntu's 2.12.3).
When converting to PNG rather than PDF, all ledger lines show artefacts
in that the interior of the ledger lines is white rather than black.
