I also presumed that it wouldnt be possible as gnumach/hurd would not be able to access anything on the disk other than preloaded by grub which i supposed was vital for running hurd based os.

Apparently it doesnt have to exist as anything that doesnt need encryption based on random data is ok. install random-egd (entropy gathering daemon) Jakub Daniel (jd823592)

Isnt there a simple way how to check whether /dev/mouse and /dev/kbd are ready for XDM to start? and make a busy wait until it is ready, then start xdm?

i added sleep 5 but it didnt help... but whenever i run xdm manually and then exit the session of wmaker i get to console but after a while xdm gets restarted automatically without my help... but never on start of the whole system

Hello, information about dhcp in hurd seems to be outdated.. some sources suggest tu use pfinet with --dhcp option but this one isnt implemented.. it would be nice if someone who knows how to set this up correctly wrote a few steps how to manage it. thanks.. Jakub

I would love to know what to do with it to make it work. But few more problems appeared. http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-install gives us hints how to install xorg. but i cant meet the dependencies with the repositories listed on that site. the same problem with packages like emacs, mount.
