In your c:\autoexec.bat file add the following then reboot:

Hi Crystal ...
Is this perl installation on a Windows ME or more recent
incarnation ?
this info would help ...
Also, the advice you've already received about the PATH
is also a good place to start .

Is Perl in your system path? The first line in the script doesn't help
any in DOSneyland. I usually just type "perl script.pl" if it is. It is
possible to associated the dot-p-l extension with Perl.exe in the
Windows GUI, but I don't believe its possible to flag an executable in
dos that isn't EXE
Crystal,
At the command prompt, type
C:\>PATH > c:\temp\out.txt
then open c:\temp\out.txt in a text editor to see if C:\perl\bin (or wherever
your perl.exe lives) is in the system path.
If not, you will have to include it in the path.

I would recommend using any UNIX over DOS, but hey, whatever tools fit the
need, I say.
Maybe check your path. Type "set" and see what you get.
