I don't have a big comparison but I can say that I have a few licences
of veritas backup executive that I no longer use after I found bacula.

Hahahaha. I am actuall implementing Bacula as an interim solution before
the NBU hardware and software is PO'd! Ive used NBU extensively and I
would say the main difference is easy of use. The one thing I REALLY
miss is the gui. Also if you want clients for Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL,
Domino, Exchange
