Hi Bryant,
the new configuration will affect only new volumes.
To change maximum size of volumes with append status you need to use *update
volume* bconsole command.

I'm Running Bacula 5.0.x.x on CentOS 6.2.
I have been using Bacula to do backups to Disk (file) for a while now
and I just realized i have configured my Volumes without Volume Size
Restrictions.
I want to set size restrictions on my Volumes to better manage backups
by adding "Maximum Volume

Hello, I'm new to Bacula and this is my first message. I have a question:
When I backup to disk, what is the recommended maximum volume size?
Official doc says that with versions up to and including 1.39.28 the
recommended maximun volumen size is 5 GB. I am using Bacula 2.4.4 on
Debian Lenny, t
I don't use disk-based backups, but I have read a couple of times how
file-based volumes aren't truncated or over-written when new data is written
to them.
As I don't use disk-based backups, I can't get into specifics, but I believe
that if you:

How many volumes do you have in the Wednesday pool? I hope more than 5
because bacula will not reuse any volume that is currently being used
in the running backup.

Hey folks,
I'm sure I have had this issue settled however...
My goal is to overwrite the backup-to-disk volumes everyday except Thursday
(another story). My understanding is that the following segment of my
bacula-dir.conf file will do the trick. However, it is not.

Arno,
I checked the n. of jobs with list command and that's correct.
Now, when the volume gets the maximum n. of jobs, it has the content removed
and start from the zero. I would like, in this case, don't use the same volume.
Instead of that, create another one and starts the job, keeping the la

Hello,
I'm trying to make Bacula automatically create a new volume (file) after a
volume has already 5 jobs.
After the 5 jobs, the volume still increasing the size and not create another
volume.
There is my pool config.:
Pool {
Name = Test
Pool Type = Backup
LabelFormat = "CATALOG-"

So far, so good. But since you're backing up to plain old files, you
cannot create a new file on the disk without creating a new volume
Hi all,
this is what I'd like to do: backup up regularly on volumes of type file that
should not exceed 4GB of size (this is in the case I've to burn such files).
I thought that Maximum Volume Size could help me, but it does not:
08-mag 17:41 backup-sd: User defined maximum volume capacity 4,000
