Some distro.'s will easily show you the ./configure line they use. E.g. here
is for slack builds for bacula. Others like Red Hat you can view the SPEC file.

for one year or so I'm using bacula to do my backups and everything
works fine.
The director is version 5.0.1 on an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server. The version
which was shipped/updated by the distribution.
