Hi Mike,
Despite that the white paper tell us about having "Maximum Concurrent Jobs
= 1" in device configuration. I think this could make sense when using
stand alone devices in a group as you have in the white papers. When using
autochangers, it is much better you use the "Maximum Concurrent Jobs

Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to help people debug usage

Bacula email list should be able to help you resolve this. I do have a

First of all thanks to Kern and Bacula Systems for making the "Best
Practices for Disk Based Backup" and "Disk Back Design" documents
available.
I have been playing around with the best way for doing concurrent
backups for a while and these documents have helped my understanding
considerably.

I asked this question a couple of months ago and didn't get a

thought that I would ask again before trying this in production.

Hi folks.
I'm re-instating my bacula system after an althernative system failed.
Unfortunately the config files I have are not the right version and I can't
get concurrent backups working again.
I have 30+ workstations and 10+ servers all backing up to 3 storage devices. I

Andreas,
This really depends on your configuration. If you have only one drive
head, you should set
"Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 6" (or any number your want)
in your job definitions. If you have multiple drive i/o heads, you have
to also configure your job definition to prefer mounted volumes to

However some people here on the list seem to be doing well with
concurrent backups to only one volume. is that actually true or am i

Hi folks,
the recent talk here of a bug relating to concurrent writes to a
single backup volume has made me a bit uneasy about one of our
production bacula servers.
We have one system with two tape libraries (so no single volume is
used by two backups at the same time), however the other system

Hi,
according to the manual, you need to create more devices for concurrent
backups to disk since Bacula regards everything as tapes, so a single
Device will block until each individual job to it is finished.
I'm a little unclear on what new sections I need though, presumable a
number of 'Device
