Because tape drives and autochangers are largely passive, sometimes
you don't get an error until the next time you do something, so that
might be an indication of a previous error. However, if you keep

I believe that is your problem. As of Solaris 10, Solaris no longer
ships (or supports) static system libraries. There are a couple of
(technical) reasons for this. It is a bit of a pain, though, when
trying to put t

OK. need to find out what the FD is doing. I would recommend:

Is it possible to run the catalog backup during the day, by hand?

Good :-) Has it started working since you changed from "localhost" to
"real host name"?
Was it not just the catalog backup which was failing in this way?
Anyway, if it starts happening again

Hi, all,
Can anyone help me analyse the problem here? On more than
one occasion, a DDS3 drive has produced this, when it reaches
the end of a tape:

23-Nov 22:06 gershwin-sd JobId 506: End of Volume "MainCatalog-004" at 57:4963

I use an HP SureStore 718, which is very similar to the L280 (2 internal
slots and exactly the same 6-slot cartridge with the hinged handle). If
you like, I could post the relevant bits of my Bacula configuration, and
you could use that as a starting point.

Check the autoloader is in 'random' mode, not 'stacker' mode.
