For reference: I made a workaround by changing "Recycle = no" to
"Recycle = yes" in the Pool definition of the directors config. I still
would not recycle in that pool but timeframe is big enough so the chance
is good that the tapes are not in the changer anymore. It seems that

bat does not build on CentOS 5 because bat requires QT 4.3 (iirc) and CentOS
only ships QT 4.2. Either upgrade QT or send a patch to make bat working with

Greetings!
I've been working on adding automated Verify jobs to my configuration. I'd like
to abuse my tape drive as little as possible, so I have the backups set to run
as a group, then the verifies set to run at a later time as a group.
On a normal weeknight (like tonight), I have two Increm

My understanding is that Bacula will hold onto the Volume info as long as
possible. Also, it won't delete the files from the tape/disk, just the
reference to them in the catalog. If you find that you're failing several
backups in a row and want to make sure the most recent good backup is

Yes. The CN of the certificate needs to match what you put as the

Name = server-fd
Address = server.domain
FDPort = 9102

Password = Password

Hi,
I have TLS communication working and I used this
http://www.devco.net/pubwiki/Bacula/TLS/ to get it working. It has
been awhile so I don't exactly remember the pitfalls I ran into.

I fixed this issue. Turns out my RunBeforeJob command wrote the

i wonder how i could restore a directory with all subdirectories and files with
bacula.
Assuming i did a full backup of / and now i only want to restore /srv/www/...
with 100 subdirectories and thousands of files. And there so space left on the
systems to restore the full / to a tmp dire

I am using bacula 1.38 (Debian Etch) and configured bacula to do backups
of a remote host using TLS. I have configured six jobs and five of them

Hello to all,
at first I would like to thank the authors for their work!
I have a bunch of questions.
My situation:
I have many defined jobs for backing up the server. They are
scheduled on mothly basis:
first sat of month -> full backups
every other sat -> differential backups
all other days
I dug around in the archives but didn't find this yet so I'll ask.
I need to do a 50 gig remote backup with only a T-1 at the remote site.
I want to perform the initial full backup of the data locally from a USB
drive image of the remote data, and then update the bacula client
and job configuration
Hey everyone,
I've been getting my feet wet finally with Bacula, after setting up
a new file server.
There's an oddity that's been occurring, however, and it's
preventing me for backing up some Windows machines.
I haven't tested this on a 32-bit environment yet, maybe I'm doing

Then, when I open bacula administration tool in the applicat

Bacula decides to do a full backup for daily backups , even when a previous

It seems like Bacula care about which pool a full backup exists in. Surely

I have Windows Server 2008 64 bit Enterprise with Hyper-V and numbers virtual

I have look at Netbackup; it's working fine but VERY expensive!!!

I agree with Bruno.
A while back a server with over 100GB of data died 4 hours prior to my
flight to Toronto.
I was able to restore all the data onto a standby server and get people
working without the loss of a single file.
And without missing my plane!
