Bad news !
What happen if you decide to give a run as root ?
If it work, this would indicate that somewhere a important file/dir (but which)
is not properly owned by bacula user.
Otherwise I don't see much more in my crystal ball.

Yes, that's how I do it now.
I was just wondering if this feature would have been interesting to
implement.

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this
issue. I ran a backup earlier this evening and it ran w/out incident.
Unfortunately I cannot "list" the files nor do a restore from w/in bconsole -
it tells me no files exist.

Thank you for that link. Point-In-Time Recovery looks like the most
correct way to do this, but since I don't have a lot of data to back up,
I will probably pg_dump to files and back up the dumps.
Thanks again,

Sorry for the obtuse question, but how do I back up the postgresql
server that my bacula database is stored on? I'm planning on stopping
the database services on all of the servers that we have so that backups
are as clean as possible, but that would make my bacula DB unavailable

Unless you have a very odd version of Linux, the terminal output is NOT
stored there. It's a device file. In fact, backing it up would actually
be dangerous to your health (or at least your system's health) because

I suspect it's more because it's not a household name. As a term, bacula
is really no worse than "Windows" or "Yahoo" or "Google". People just
aren't used to it.
In marketing, there is a rule: a customer must have heard of a product
seven times before it becomes familiar and is considered trust

We are planning to implement bacula at one of our major manufacturing

similar to it with a different name. Our storage engineering team is
in the process of writing proposals for various solutions but they are

And, of course, it should be optional; I meant mostly *-to-disk scenarios.
Any idea how this can be managed "by bconsole scripting" as someone had
suggested?

Why are you backing up /dev/ at all? Isn't it a devfs on Gentoo?

Hello,
we have a problem with authentication between the various Daemons.
The strange thing is, that if I enter in the address field 127.0.0.1 I get no
error. And I can backup the Local Host.
If I put in the dir.conf , sd.conf and fd.conf an address which I can reach
from the LAN i.e. a
I made directory /var/run/bacula and made chown bacula:bacula, edit config of
