if you really don't like the thick top then make it skinny like shell, their
icon over text was pretty nice even in small format. Sorry for blurring into

Exactly! the app-menu imo is dead, free the top space to applications and be
done with it. Let the apps build into it.
Of course this presents a bit of a problem considering the odd shape of the
