I need to use the 0.9 beta drivers for my card (Delta 66) as it is
multi-channel and not handled properly by the 0.5.x set which are
included in the Mandrake 8.2 distro. I had these working in 8.1,
but under 8.2 on running configure for the driver I get:

I have finally managed to make everything configure and compile on
Mandrake 8.2, but having run all the steps up to modprobe successfully,
modprobe snd-ice1712
can't find the module. Neither can I! I am using a Delta 66 card.
INSTALL tells me to use snd-ice1712. My modules.conf looks like th

I have installed the kernel source rpm.
I have followed Jaroslav's instructions for my sound card: Delta 66
The driver, lib and utils all build successfully. When it comes time
to: modprobe snd-ice1712
I get:

'rpm -qf /lib/modules/2.4.18-8.1mdk/alsa/snd-seq-device.o.gz' that it's
part
of the new kernel RPM, not your newly installed rc2 :) HTH,
I have been using alsa successfully for a long time now with a Delta 66
card (ice-1712 in alsa terms). Yesterday I installed the lastest stable
Mandrake kernel and sound no longer works.
amixer gives me:
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory
envy24control returns:
sn
I have installed kernel 2.4.17-8mdk together with sources. configure is
happy:
./configure --with-kernel=/usr/src/linux-2.4.17-8mdk
finds the source.
make is happy:
ALSA modules were successfully compiled.
then make install does this:
mkdir -p /lib/modules/2.4.17-8mdk/misc
rm -f /lib/modul
