Clemens,
I've given up on the intel8x0 for now and last night I installed a Sound
Blaster Live Value 5.1. I rebuilt the ALSA drivers for the new card
(emu10k1) and then tried to reboot. I got a bunch of error messages
regarding snd-magic.ko and snd-intel8x0.ko (to fast to write down) and

I've installed a debian unstable on my pc (mb asus

and i would like to use a microphone.
This integrated sound card have 3 jack that, by
default, are set to line-out.
I've seen that from windows is possible to do a switch

PCI card would go and plugged into a spot on the motherboard. This
works in windows no

That is how Fedora's Kudzu automatically detected it and therefore I
figured it is closer to that one that the PCI envy24PT drivers ice1712.

Hello,
I have an onboard Intel 810-based audio card in my box. It used to
work nicely with a 2.4-series kernel and some earlier (can't remember
the exact version) ALSA drivers. Recently, I've done a serious update
to Debian testing (from stable) and kernel 2.6.0. I've compiled the
kernel with ALSA
That's a good observation keith, i have nothing in modprobe.conf, and
that's a problem with 2.6.3 :] i didnt even think about it, i just used
modules.conf without a second thought :(
Anyways, i added all the lines from the howto for this module on

h doesn't look like anything is using the hardware (at least not
those). Ive never seen xmms just freeze when pressing the play button, i
have no clue what it could be.
