I'm using an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card. I have the volume in envy24control
set to 127 ("consumer") level, which appears to be as high as it goes.
Compared to other sources on my preamp (eg, my musical fidelity X-24K DAC or a
Micromega Stage 3 CD player) the output of the card sounds very quiet.

Hello all,
I am using alsa-0.9.0rc3 drivers and can't get my ens-1371 card to record
anything but silent .wav files.
I have tried the arecord, gnome sound recorder, and sox.
I can get decent sound to the speakers, use the mixer to take sound from the
line in or mic and output them to the speaker

The reason I want it to work is that I need a metronome, and the one I found uses midi. If a
