I guess you have the Multiface. The problem with no sound on channel
11-18 is solved with a recent fix in CVS (2002-11-29). I don't know if
it is released in a release candidate yet.
Regarding line out, I am not sure if it is on by default. You may have
to give the line_outs_monitor parameter

Thanks for the reply. The channels on HDSP do not show up as master, pcm,
line, etc. They show up as Chn,1 Chn,2, ... Chn,18 and I have set all of
them to unity. I do get sound out from channels 1 though 8 through the
analog output, and through the first two digital channels (Chnls 9

Try to use alsamixer (it's an ncurses-based mixer). You can directly call it
from the commandline. With cursor right/left you can navigate from device to
device (master, line, pcm...). Check that master, pcm and line are unmuted at
the least. Then check if the volumes are adjusted correctly.
