thanks for your help. But I kind of doub that this is the problem.
In both cases (on my laptop and on my PC) behave the same way in
alsamixer.
Q/Z increase/decrease the left channel volume
E/C increase/decrease the right channel volume
W/X increase/decrease both channel volumes at once
It's very likely that each volume controller of the card in your PC is for
a single (mono) channel, where the controllers in your laptop manage
two channels at once (stereo).
Try running alsamixer, and then move to some various volume sliders
and press "q" a few times, and then "z" a few times. y
