Update: I made my route-device the alsa default device so that arts would use it and now play music with xmms through arts. It seems to work so the question is if maybe the problem was not with alsa or the route plugin but with the way xmms talks to alsa... Dominik On Monday 17 May 2004 20:14

Hi there, I hope this has not been discussed before. I tried the stereo-to-5.1 routing that is explained in the FAQ. It works but only lasts a few seconds, then some channels start lagging behind the others which obviously results in terrible sound. I use a 2.6.4 kernel and my soundcard is a cs
