Hello there,
I am having an issue recording with a Griffin iMic (using arecord), that
issue being it doesn't work at all. Here is my sound setup:

I am using Mandrake Linux 10.1, which has a version of Alsa 1.06 in it.
My sound card is a Shark Predator ISA, which is AD1816a-based. I doubt this
card has been tested much in Alsa (years ago when 0.9 first came out, this
driver had problems which kept it from working at all until I myself repor

Hi,
Using Realtek ALC260 with snd-hda-intel, with 1.0.10 and lower versions I was
able to record sound with : arecord -d 10 -f cd -t wav -D copy foobar.wav
Now I get an error instead:

Various external forces caused a kernel upgade on my live ogg encoder
machine, and I'm having a devil of a time getting ALSA working after it.
I've rebuilt the kernel module with the 1.0.4 plugin, and I can't get the
following command...

Hi everybody!
I'm using a Terratex DMX 6fire Soundcard on a SuSE
Linux 9.0 system. SuSE installed all necessary drivers and configured the card
so that I could listen to audio (which is fine!).
However, I am not able to record audio from line-in

The segmentation fault indicates that something may not be configured
correctly. Installing 0.9.7a might

Yes, 0.9.6 release.
I'm not overly concerned about that, though; aumix works fine for now
(although I realize that I will need to fix this eventually). What I'm
most concerned about, is the fa

Are you using exactly the same version of the alsa-driver and alsa-lib
packages?

Hi,
I've been playing with ALSA for the past couple of weeks, mostly to get
GnomeMeeting working (the OSS driver for my chip doesn't support full
duplex).
When I play music using OSS emulation, everything sounds great
(incidentally, the sound is much richer than when using the OSS
drivers). B
Hey all
Starting to think my SBLive was the only card that works right with this
thing... sounded pretty bad but it worked!
I got a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, and sound output sounds great. But I
can't record anything.
I have my audio source plugged into Mic. All other inputs are muted, and

Hi,
I'm trying to get sound working on my Compaq Armada M700. Everything
seems to work fine with the es1968 driver except recording. Some
utilities work (arecord, brec, rec (sox)) but produce sound files with
regular bursts of noise (dropouts?). Other utilities (sweep, audacity,
snd, kerecord)

i want to record something from the line in of my motherboard (VIA)
i use the alsa via82xx and all is allright for playback (xmms,
mplayer...)
i thing that my line channel is selected for record :
amixer says :
Simple mixer control 'Line',0

are you sure that you UN-muted your line-in channels?
turn on alsamixer, unmute the needed channels! you have also to setup
the incoming gaine. either with alsamixer or with every oss-mixer you can
do this.

I'm not sure if it's for the same reason, but I had the same problem with
my ens1370 (Ensoniq Audio PCI).
I solved it by turning on the microphone +5V bias.
There are 2 ways to do this -
1. Use the gamix mixer program - link on the Alsa applications page -
which has a button to turn it on.
2. E
Hello,
I am unable to record sounds on my computer. Playback
works just fine, but recording produces silent wav
files. I've tried using programs like gnoise or
audacity, and i've tried the command-line program
record, but none of them work. Am I doing something
wrong? Below is some information th
