Testing out ALSA on a new laptop (Sager NP5680 ... same as Eurocom D500P
and HyperSonic GX6). As far I as know it has an Intel ICH5 AC97 sold by
Realtek? It has a mic in, stereo out, and 5.1 digital output. I can't
seem to figure out which lowlevel ALSA driver to use? Nor can I se

bad thing is, I already did this back when alsa 0.5.x was stable. They told me
plain blunt and simple that linux is not supported. I also sent my complain
to the crystal guys. They pointed me to their driver which works just a
little better dep

In case my problem with the Terratec DMX XFire 1024 can't be solved I'll
probably have to replace it with something better supported.
Which cards are recommended? The Alsa Project driver matrix doesn't help much
here

didn't find a hint which soundcard works best
with openal.
Are the CMI8738 based soundcards supported with
4-channel or 6-channel sound?
Or are there better (cheap) soundcards available
I am not aware of ?
