I've been trying to install the Alsa 0.9.0rc5 packages, and it
successfully compiled and seems to have successfully installed (at least
avview detects the card and alsamixer works), and when I run xmms or mpg123
there are no errors.
However, I get no sound at all. I have unmuted everythin
I'm trying to hear a sound out of my SB Live! card. I'm working under Red Hat
7.3 (kernel 2.4.18).
I thought i had correctly installed the alsa-driver 0.9.0rc1, lib and utils,
but no sound comes.
I have launched /sbin/sndconfig, but the following error comes out:

ALSA is really confusing. I don't know why I use it... MIDI is
piss-poor, having to recompile for every kernel upgrade is a pain... I
guess part of this is the kernel people's fault.
