I finally found out about the little speaker-test app and tried it out on my new M-Audio Revolution 7.1, but I get very odd results. Here's what I get for ./speaker-test -Dsurround51 -c 6: Playback device is surround51 Stream parameters are 44100Hz, S32_LE, 6 channels Sine wave rate is 440.
