I am trying to install ALSA for a Cirrus Logic/IBM CS 4235B Crystal Audio on
board chip on stable debian - linux 2.2.20
The instructions at

require me to compile the module.

You have to run the device in USB 2.0 mode to be able to play to all

I tried "aplay -D plughw:1 something.wav" and it actually worked,

However the sound is pretty bad, with some strange noise. Also, i have
5.1 speakers (1 subwoofer + 5 speakers), but only the front left and
front right speakers are actually working. I guess I have to

I would upgrade to 2.6.4 and some current ALSA.

can someone give me brief instructions on how to get SoundBlaster
Audigy2 NX working with kernel 2.6.2, alsa 0.9.7.
after insering the snd-usb-audio module, /proc/asound/cards contains:
0 [I82801CAICH3 ]: ICH - Intel 82801CA-ICH3
Intel 82801CA-ICH3 at 0x1400, irq 11
1
