Hey, I'm trying to resolve teething issues on a new motherboard,
Sound plays but I can't configure it with alsamixer, I need to boost the
gain before I have to solder together a +6db line amp...
Alsamixer dies with following when I try to configure "card 2"

Hi All,
I modded a Lenovo laptop X61s to get spdif out (from pin 48 on the ad1984 chip
on the mobo via condensatator of 0.1. mf to a bns plug etc.)
With Lubuntu 13.10 – alsamixer version 1.0.27.1—Alsamixer gives spdif options
and it works perfect.
With lubuntu 14.4.1 (and betaversion 14.10) -
I was able to gather enough data to properly go through all the options
for my chipset and codecs. I also found the bugtraq that perfectly
describes the issue I have with teh snd-hda-intel driver. It would appear
that the Alsa 1.0.11 worked plug and play as best as it could out of the
box. Wi

I am still unable to find out if I am missing functionality using the Alsa
drivers on my laptop with the HDA ICH7 sound chipset.
Should Alsa mixer show more than the MASTER and PCM controls for playback?
I am getting sound, it is just very low compared to the same file playback

Hi!
When I try the new kernels (later than 2.6.11) I get my jack-problems, which
still aren't resolved.
And I can't use envy24control, for I'm blind. But alsamixer worked before. I
remember that Takashi fixed it once (in 0.9.6 or something) and from then on
no problem.
By the way, I used corr

Hi everyone!
I still do have the same problem. My alsamixer is buggy and I can't fix that
problem myself. Also I still can't set the ipga-analog volumes, but I couldn't
do that since 2.6.10 kernels. Here I gathered all info I thought necessary
(and perhaps more than that :-))

Hi
I'm running Slackware 9.1 on a machine with a pretty much standard
Realtek AC/97 onboard soundcard, and the problem is that the alsa-mixer
doesn't save the settings. This is just very annoying.
When I installed the system I run 'alsamixer' as root, set the sliders
and then run 'alsactl stor

You need to run alsactl restore at startup, e.g.,

Hi:
Just finished installing Kernel 2.6.1 and the Alsa
module.
Sound works great but everytime I reboot (and the
modules are reloaded) the volumes are all set to zero
and muted. I have to run alsamixer and turn them back
on. Is there a config file for alsamixer that can be
read when the module
What are the PCM and Master level settings when using the intel8x0 driver for
unity gain, that which causes no volume processing to be done?
Thanks.

Hi All,
Can someone tell me if Alsa has support to make mixer "groups?" For
example, I'd like to group all the wave * channels (wave, wave center,
wave surround, etc) into a group and map that to PCM. So I can then use
oss-mixer to adjust the digital volume. I have a SBLive 5.1 using Emu10k1

Hello!
I don't know very much about the via chip, but as I told you, I also had a
lot of problems with my mic. But maybe you might try to use aumix, which is an
ossmixer. Remember to load the oss-simulation (oss-*). But if you have a real
sb16 or another (not onboard) card, better use that one, f
Thanks to Julien Claassen, my mic record is now working and with boost
on, is stonger.
But, there is one thing I do not understand concerning the mixer. On the
oss Sound Blaster model, mic had it's own individual volume control,
which effects record level, and then a master record volume contro
OK, I now have the sound working finally, but using Alsa mixer to set the
volumn is a little backward. Is there anyway to get the Inspiron 8100 volumn
control buttons to work to do this?
