information gives "mute=1"? If I set this to "0" - will it have any influence?

"Tone Switch") doesn't have one,
but can be muted using Alsamixer (although it changes "value" from "on" to
"off")... so, what does "mute" show?

P.S. I would to add, that the playback volume as well isn't as high, as it
used to be in the case of Creative's proprietary emu10k1 module. Why the
levels are "cutted"? Is it possible to unblock it?
